Films

Watched a couple of films recently that I thought were going to be quite good. They actually turned out to be a massive disappointment. They're old now by film standards, but I don't get the peace to watch them often, so I've got a little catching up to do..lol..

Taking of Pelam 123. Some good bits, but mostly predictable with a really crap ending. It could've been as good as the trailer, but wasn't.

2012. Good graphics, but the plot and story are about as original as any other 'end of the world' type film. Divorced layabout with kids somehow ends up saving the day and getting back with his ex after all is forgiven, and somehow (conveniently) losing the ex's new love interest in the process. 2.5hrs wasted with that one.

I've still got a fairly comprehensive list to get through which is getting bigger by the week. Just thought I'd share my frustrations and ask if there are any other supposed 'brilliant' films to steer clear of.. :smt082

pretty much anything made in hollywood as there are only 9 story lines and they are always set for the lowest common denominator

Occasionally films are good but I usually prefer to read a book. Usually there is more depth to them and also they don't hold you captive - you can read a bit when you want, put it down when you have to do something and come back to it later.
You also have the opportunity to use your own imagination to create the scenes they describe in your head.
Much more satisfying.

I never get tired of a proper war film, preferably based on fact.

But I think my fav is 633 squadron, evocative music and some great acting.

I never get tired of watching all the old classic war films, such as 633 Squadron.

The Dambusters? Another classic with brilliant music, The Great Escape another.

They don't make them like they used to :smt003

I've got all the classic war films. Well, pretty much I'd think. Can't beat a classic war film. It's pretty much guaranteed that if I'm watching the idiot lantern it'll be a program or film about engineering, motors or war. Nothing else will do. (Well, apart from CSI..lol)

See, now i watched Eastenders last night.. Looks good for an upcoming Beale/Mitchell gangfight against the Brannings.. with a bit of romeo and juliet in the middle.

Cant stand it apart from when there's bloodshed and fighting

It'd be easier to come up with stuff worth seeing rather than stuff worth avoiding.
