I'll cut to the chase..
I'm looking at moving myself and family (wife and three young boys) into a converted double decker bus.
I'm trying to weigh up the pro's and con's, but thus far the people I've spoken to can only come up with some nay-sayer reasons for why not.. Such as 'practicality'.. Which my argument is it's no less practical than living in a house. I'm after a wider opinion because I'm hell bent on the idea. All I need is one plausible reason to not do it.
So.. C'mon.. Don't hold back on this.. I want honest, even if hurtful responses to this as it will be a life changing challenge..

Will still have official residence.. Just wont be residing there in the eye's of the 'system'. I won't be giving up work or evading taxes.

Yep
And as I said
Suggest you look at what happened to those folk who wanted to avoid the poll tax....
I Appreciate the thought - but would I do it?
No

Yes, but we don't have a poll tax system. It would be no different to those folk living on canal narrow boats and moving moorings every month or so to be exempt from council tax.

One of the biggest obstacles at the moment, but research has yet to be done in that respect. I do know a lot of folk both locally and nationally who would have no issues with me parking on their land. I know this as the question has already been raised.

Portapotties.
Nuff said. Look at the embuggerance,
ship shower routine, emtying the fekkers and where you'll empty the fekkers.
Other than that, I was looking at an old Guinness DD Bus with a genuine intent to look into living the dream in it properly.
Til it came to the shitters and showering

my argument would relate to the size. Double decker bus isn't that big at the end of the da. This country is a bit cold aswell.

There are some pretty neat bogs/showers out in the market at the moment for the RV/Motor home crowd. Part of my job involves bespoke design and I've already come up with a combined bog/shower/wash station idea. Also being in the industry I'm in, there's not a lot I can't have done for nothing, or close to. There are certain aspects that will cause me issues, but that'll be a 'run once' operation.

Size is relative. People tend to fill the spaces they live in with all manner of things. There's a lot of junk in my house that I don't use and am never likely to use. I've got a wall full of DVD's that are seldom watched and have no reason to keep them than "I might want to watch that one day". We fill the spaces we live in with what we can and junk the rest. Down-sizing has it's good points.
Heating and cooling is something I've looked at. It's a rather convoluted system, but has been proven to work. That side of things has already been thought out and plans drawn up.

Watched the video link. We're not nomads, hippies or travellers.. We'll be living like we do now, just in a bus. The kids will go to the same schools throughout their education and I will endeavour to keep a full time job.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE YOUR MIND SET ON IT
cost it - as in properly. the work you are talking about is all possible, but at what cost?
cost the heating - us old gits may just put another jumper on - kids are not like that
pump outs for sewerage - cost it and then double it
cost up the electrics and generators etc
ground rent for where ever you will park it
to move it - do you have the right licence?
once you have done all that, hire some storage and empty your whole house into it and live as spartan as you can for a month - if you have not killed each other, then possobly do ...it

We cannot change your mind.......
But
Does the wife want to do it?
Do the kids want to do it?
What do you think your kids life will be like with the other kids?.....They may get picked on etc.
I don't know anything about you or your family so these are just what i would be thinking and as kwak said.....the toilet.......nuff said
