They say it's approved for use in Europe, 700 have been sold and 5 people say it saved their life ....... but I can't see how it can have passed the safety tests as they assume a conventional shell.



It looks as though it deploys from the rear .... so how is that going to work at any speed? - launching a "parachute" from the back of your neck to come forward, against the wind over your head.

The neck thing looks bulky - I reckon it will be unusable on a sports bike. I find that if I wear a thick collar on a sweatshirt or a hoodie under my jacket, it reduces my head mobility. That is partly to do with it pushing my jacket into my helmet - and this new thing doesn't have a conventional helmet - but it looks very bulky and likely to inhibit movement.

The helmet stand in the photo looks OK though.

CE certified for bicycles? maybe? cant see your coiffure staying tidy at 90+

some members here are follically challenged so their coiffure would not be affected by any speed

they may get wind burn on their skin, but......

It's a bicycle helmet.

We started out with a survey, asking people on the streets why so few people wear bicycle helmets. They came up with plenty of reasons: "They're a pain to carry about, they all look hideous, they ruin your hair, nobody else wears them, you can't get your hat on underneath." Some good arguments, it's true, others more like excuses. It was clear that bicycle helmets are a hot topic that everyone has an opinion on and strong feelings about. Bicycling is something we do every day and there's a sense of freedom that goes with it.

I still think it looks a bit daft and would be concerned about a faceplant as there's bugger all solid at the front to take at least part of the impact.

Worn back-to-front, it'd be a hi-tech replacement for the mingers' paper bags - pops up at just the right moment

Not sure how good the abrasion resistance would be.

I don't wear a cycle helmet the reason being you're more likely to get knocked off.

The extra head weight destabilises the plot?

Helmets are so embarrassing to wear that they ruin your self-confidence and make you crash?

Dunno about it making you more likely to get knocked off but I don't wear one either - I've never known anyone fall off a bike and bash the part of your head that a cycle helmet actually covers. Hands, arms, knees, face - I've bashed them all chasing about on bicycles but never, ever, the top of my head - you just don't fall like that.

I knew someone who came off while not wearing a helmet - she did eventually learn to walk again but she can't talk.

I used to use one, got swipped twice in 1 week on the Chertsey to Weybridge road. seems that car drivers ee it as a sure thing to save your life as they don't move out at all.

Without a helmet they sit behind, frightened to get past. Mostly I guess cos they think, what if they got brain damaged cos I like carving them up. But them it could be cos Surrey drivers are the most pig ignorant arseholes on our roads.
