Not impressed

#1 Post by Falconihlist » Fri Mar 09, 2012 7:42 pm

Sold the Husky on fleabay, and the new owner is not able to start it. Bike was started when the courier turned up and ran perfectly. Bike was not damaged or tampered with on route. Sounds like it has been started without fast idle and clogged the spark plug.

Seems like the blame is going to land with me, which I am definitely not impressed with as I sold a sound bike with no problems :smt013

Sold as seen surely. Tuff shit on the purchaser if he's done something wrong. Not your problem!

I will be fighting this, even the courier is willing to back me up about the bike starting before he loaded it on the van.

With the courier backing you up then its time for the purchaser to MAN UP !

Is he local? Can we not just go and chin him? :smt003
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

The ad was for pick up only, so he arranged the courier, and he is not mechanically minded when it comes to removing a spark plug. Pays a mechanic to do everything :smt012

At the end of the day, I sent the bike as per his instructions, and from what I have gathered from the courier, it's his fault for not RTFM :smt018

E unsurprisingly I am not mechanically minded but if I was him I would have approached you and said this has happened any ideas? And then got someone to help.
As far asy opinion goes and I can be a stroppy git I would say the courier was acting as his agent and as soon as the courier took it it became his bike.
I would suggest that if you want to be nice you offer to explain to one of his more mechanically minded pals what you think the issue might be and leave it at that.

a wee video of the bike starting and getting loaded would of been great for youalso a walk round of theb bike before it was loaded incase of damage during transport , but we dont always think of this at the time ,

.... and that's a fine example of them allowing the sale of things to people who don't have a clue how they work.
Without this. people will never pick up problems as they begin to occur.
Basic understanding and maintenance should be mandatory before they hand over a license.
I despair over the level of basic understanding by the general population of how things work. Didn't used to be that way.

.... though I guess it's not surprising as any brain cells they may once have had will have been sucked from their heads through an endless diet of reality TV shows and celeb following

with respect

I have recently started work near kings lynn, where it appears that the main fashion accessory for females between 15 and 25 is a baby buggy

a classic example of folk not understanding how simple things work i fear.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Andy, I totally agree on what you say. Before I got it, I made sure I knew everything that I could about it, what could go wrong potentially, and the correct way to get it started and shut down. Ignorance is no excuse, as I provided all the manuals, and it quite obviously states in the user handbook to use the fast idle.

I have spoken to fleabay, and as far as they are concerned, the bike left with the courier in working order, so if it has got damaged on route it's the couriers fault, and if it doesn't work at his end through incorrect procedures, then it's his fault.
