Air Bag Jackets

I remember seeing an ad around a year ago. The jacket featured a neck brace, was inflated by a replaceable gas cannister, activated by a short cable fixed to the bike so if you went airborne.. ect.ect.
Some members of the blood n bones sector were wanting this to be compulsary kit, not heard anymore of it. Anyone know more?

It was in the news a week or two ago again.
Development seems to have continued, but I cant remember where I was looking at it.

The thing is a good idea, the airbag protecting your vital organs and protecting against neck compression, ( have seen some horrible moto x and enduro neck injuries )
But we dont like compulsary !

Both Alpinestars and Dianese have systems in development which are already used in racing.

I think the ones you were thinking of were the Dianese ones.
I understand Pete has been experimenting with a more affordable solution comprising a whoopee cushion fitted inside the neck of his jacket, attached via a long hose to a pair of rubber incontinence pants. They auto-inflate in microseconds of a panic situation occurring .... though there have been a few failures due to hose-blockage when the situation has become just that bit too scary.

Dianese were the first to start as far as I know and the last I heard they were gathering data from the race suits so that the electronic triggers could be set up for the road.
There are already air bag jackets out there but the ones I've seen pictures of worked by cables hooked up to the bike. Which has the potential for huge embarrassment at the petrol station.

I think Id prefer the Dianese to the whoopie cushion. The twat in the petrol station that frgets to unhook the activating cable would be ME

ask andy - he gets a very good discount as an OAP - see if his spares are available?

Nah, I'm not embarrassed by piddling myself. Little and often is my motto.
I did have a young scamp urinate himself on the back of my bike once though.

By the time I'm an OAP they'll have put up the age for becoming one and it'll be even further away.
That said, I have just washed out my pee bag.
.... it's the one in which we keep those little green, round vegetables we keep in the freezer ......
