Greetings from sunny Andalucia!

#1 Post by HowardQ » Thu Dec 29, 2011 2:54 pm

It turns out the people we rent the villa from have just fitted new wireless broadband, so back on line quickly folks. (Sorry to those who thought they were shut of me for 10 days!)
Just come in from a spot of first day sun bathing, (well sat out in shorts and T shirt , in a chair in nice warm sun, no scorcher but very pleasant). Cool when the sun goes down but nice to sit in it reading a bike mag, which is sadly the nearest Ill get to two wheels. A 207 diesel is our transport for the next 10 days, but hope to be driving on some nice empty roads.
I envy you Rich out here on a GS in September, it would be a nice day today for run from Teba to Ronda then down to Marbella. possibly going back the opposite way or returning via Coin. Sadly Terri isn't a biker so won't ever happen!
Even by car it is just brilliant to be on great roads like this when they are almost totally traffic free. You do have to watch it as it gets late though, the last time I was in Ronda at this time of the year it was sunny and quite pleasant, then sun went down and it was down to 1 or 2 degrees in no time until we got half way down the classic road to the coast.

Would you be surprised if I said we cordially hate you?

It's for health reasons honest!
Actually that's partly true, I like to get away in winter, because that's when my arthritis plays up the most, in warmer climes it is much better.
In cold weather it varies from "OK" to sometimes being really painfull just walking.
Have thought of asking if I can get winter holidays on National Health but that's "unlikely" as my doctor won't usually prescribe anything, especially now it's free at my advanced age! ??? ! :smt017

The San Pedro pass from Ronda to Marbella is a fantastic road alright :smt003

Shame Terri isn't in to bikes though. After 20yrs of marriage, during which my missus showed almost zero interest in bikes in general, she suddenly decided she fancied a run out on the bike :smt017

Quick trip to Hein Gericke and a couple of hours later we were riding around the peak district. Needless to say she loved it :smt003

12 months on and we've now had trips to Scotland, had that week riding in Andalucia (and now booked again to go in 2012) and next summer we have a week booked riding around the Black Forest and the Vosque mountains, so you never know Terri might wake up one day and fancy having a go herself

Enjoy your holiday!
