Ive just read a thread about costs. I found this site via a link posted by Aladinsane on clubaprilia, they have a one off, life long membership payment which I think is 100%. You guys ask for nothing so being a bit dim in the ways of the binter web had not considered running costs existed. This is my 5th visit to this site, all my questions have been answered with humour, wit, photos, links ect. Thats worth paying for & sopporting so how can I help ??? Paul

Thanks for the suggestion fatboy.
A number of us are Club Aprilia members and are familiar with how their system works.
The disadvantage seems to be that "new" people cannot actually see the forum until they join it - and the feeling is that would stop a lot of people from joining us as people generally don't like to pay for what they've not seen.
Of course we'd never completely rule it out but in the main we like to be an open and welcoming place and (so far) "passing the hat round" ever 6 months or so seems to have worked for us. Tim (Kwackerz) has also sorted out a few sponsorship deals / kick backs from insurance quotes etc and these help a bit - but mainly we are funded by our members according to what they are willing and able to give. We also recognise that not all are blessed with huge financial resources and sometimes people can't give financially - but their contribution to the life of the forum is just as valuable.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not knocking your suggestion - it's just not the way we've chosen to go so far.
.... and if you or anyone want to contribute, click the logo that you'll get to if you click this link:

Thanks

And I wonder where my "grooming" reputation comes from.....
Welcome, and glad you like the site
Folk pop a couple of quid in every now and again - if they can - if they can't no biggie
We are quite fond of the place though :)

Hi Fatboy and welcome! Glad the site has been of use to you
We do run an informal donations 'scheme' as D-R has mentioned and linked to.
We could do the old formal bollox of asking for membership fees or somesuch but that's not what the site is about. I think it's more of a karma thing. The site helps you, you help the site. That could be on a number of levels, as has been said, not everyone owns Chelsea FC.. We rattle the tin occasionally, but its a gentle request than a demand.. servers cost money, something thats unavoidable if you want a decent stable site. We get by...
