Is the trouble throughout the country (and in London in particular) just one of the 10 exercises to prepare the police and security services for the Olympic games??

Nah .... I don't think so either.

Does make you wonder how prepared we really are .... for example, should there be a terrorist event that gets sympathisers on the streets - then matched by those outraged facing up to them slugging it out.
The potential being so much more severe than what we are showing to the world that we are struggling to cope with.

Don't misunderstand - the scenes we are seeing are a terrible state of affairs - and other than the initial situation, seem to be with little reason or objective.
Nevertheless, just a year before the Olympics are held, a seemingly mindless part of the population behaves barbarically and we also reveal that the nation is grossly ill prepared for any problems that may occur.
The response to such things is often a move to heavy-handed policing - but at the Olympics with huge numbers of law abiding sports fans from across the world potentially being caught up in the middle of anything, the approach is going to have to be a lot more sophisticated than that.

Glad they didnt call in the Army last night. How the fek are the military supposed to deal with a rioting/looting 12 year old? We dont do childcare.

Chertsey was pretty safe - all the c#nts are here in Croydon.

Obviously we've forgotten our own policy about how we should deal with people rebelling against a government they don't like/agree with.
First off you get special forces people in at ground level to asses the situation and see how you might help them "unofficially". Then you get a UN resolution so you can attack the government sites with air strikes and destroy what you can to help the demonstrators. If that isn't working too well, you need more air strikes and also to supply better higher quality weapons and lots more ammunition to these "freedom fighters" and supply even more specialist people to give them strategic guidance on how to deal with the government forces.
Then keep going like this forever to you get a result and or the world forgets all about it, then you get out quietly and let the original two groups kill each other after all.

But this seems to be our official policy in other parts of the world, so why not try it here in London.

Was out helping a local shopkeeper I know board up his windows last night and there were loads of people on the streets. Seems most think its a big game.

Shops are all shutting about 2.00 today waiting for another lot.

It is all very surreal, must be for looters coppers and innocent locals. Not good and im sure that game didnt help in forming the looter's mindsets..

If they're old enough to cause trouble, they're old enough to be dealt a slap for it. If my brother or myself stepped out of line when we were kids, we'd get a slipper across the back's of our legs.. We soon learnt where the line was, and often went right up to it, but rarely stepped over it. Same train of thought is still with us in adulthood.

The whole lot is mindless bullshit. No political reasoning behind it. They're not protesting at anything either.. They're out to rob and vandalise with news stations saying "mobile phone shops and clothes stores are the main targets".. Well no shit Sherlock!

Round them up and send them to a war zone.. Let's see how many are still brave enough to go on the rampage!
