Unfortunately Mrs D-Rider is not well ........

Some of you are in the know but I guess I should update the rest of you.
Joy, my wife has been ill for a while. About a month ago she went in to hospital for about 11 days while they drained fluid from her left lung that had partially collapsed. While she was there they performed a number of tests and discovered a growth that was restricting one of her main breathing tubes.
She’s been out of hospital for a couple of weeks and on Monday last week (11th) she had to go back for a PET CT scan. That afternoon we had to see the consultant for results of other tests. All along we’ve been rather worried as 12yrs ago Joy had breast cancer and we feared this may be related. The news last week was partially encouraging in that they had found “nothing nasty” in the fluid they drained from her lung or from what they washed from this restriction in her lung.
Yesterday (18th) we were asked to go back in to meet the surgeon who will perform a Rigid Bronchoscopy to remove a biopsy sample. We met him and he ran through the PET CT scan results. The bad news is it does look as though it is almost certainly cancer – though, thankfully, there does seem to be no indication that it has spread further.
They need to take a sample for biopsy to find out more about it and understand how to treat it. However, taking the sample is not straightforward due to its proximity to a main artery ..... there is a serious risk – though, hopefully that’s more of a warning to cover their backsides should the unfortunate happen .... and hopefully nothing unfortunate will occur.
This also means that whatever they find from the biopsy, they cannot operate but will have to treat with chemo and/or radio therapy.
Results and meetings seem to happen on Mondays so, with the sample being taken next Monday, I guess we may get the results on the following Monday (1st August) ..... which will be our 30th wedding anniversary.
So if I’m not as active on RiderSite you’ll understand why – though maybe I will be on here just as much as a bit of a diversion. As you may guess, we’ve been rather concerned and continue to be so.
Prayers appreciated.
