. . got in to work this morning, to be told that one of my local friends was killed yesterday afternoon, riding near Ludlow with two other friends; he was hit by a Kawasaki travelling in the opposite direction. The Kawasaki rider is in a pretty poor state.
Steve leaves a wife and two (grown-up) children.
Bit of a sombre mood in Cleobury today.

Sorry to hear this Mart.
Never good to hear of a biker being killed - and worse when it's someone you know or your friends know.

Just had a drink with Steve's family. Seems the Kwak rider (thought to be on a ZX10) was being a prick; missed the lead rider of Steve's group by a few inches, overtaking on double whites, and then took Steve out on the next bend.
I feel deeply for Dan and Abbi, Steve's children. It's bad enough losing a parent when it's expected, through old age and illness, but to lose one's father so abruptly is tragic beyond words.
Moral is, as I see it, live your life now, don't wait for tomorrow. Read the Epic of Gilgamesh, written over 4,000 years ago; even then, not long after the dawn of urban culture and literacy, our forefathers had sussed that out.
Deeply-felt thanks for your comments
Martin
