Just in the nick of time - I am currently putting together a list of shiny bolt things required for the old girl (the bike, not the wife) and shall be placing my order soon.

Even better you are just at the other end of a short (but very satisfying) ride from my house and I can collect said parts if this is agreeable with you.

How much for a set of titanium bolts to hold the 2 front discs to the hubs?

Was about to order some off evibay but sooner you had the business .... despite it not helping my ebay rating !

(oh and anyone not in the know, DON'T put titanium bolts on the rear disc - your speedo will stop working)

Hi Andy,

Not wishing to rain on your parade, but the unsprung weight saving on Titanium vs. steel are miniscule when so close to the axle/spindle. The real savings are to be made in the rim/tyre area as it's weight at the extremities of the wheel that really cause the gyro effect.

But they are very bling, of course. :smt003

And be careful to use a dab of copper grease on them, as titanium is notorious for galling/cold welding when used with dissimilar metals, especially aluminium.

Yes - it's not a weight saving thing Graham .... the new rims will do a good job of that themselves. I have several sets of rims, several sets of discs but at present I only have one set of bolts to hold the things together. I'm basically after a set of something to do the job of bolting up another set.
Standard ones will do but ideally want something that won't corrode much and can handle the shear loads of the discs - doesn't have to be Ti. TBH I've not had a good look at the standard ones to see what they are made of.
These days, very little of my bike goes together without a liberal smearing of copper-grease.

Why's that then?

The speedo sensor is a variable reluctance sensor that pulses each time one of the rear disc bolts passes it. It's not happy with Titanium and I think the same is true for the grades of stainless that magnets won't stick to.

Right then, I've been on the case (and the phone) all morning. I've found no one that will do M10 or M8 fine pitch (what you need for caliper and disk bolts) in A4/316 grade stainless or titanium except Pro-Bolt (tasty nuts), so... I've faxed off my form to be a Pro-Bolt retailer and will be up and running for them soon.

As I'll be getting a trade discount from them, I hope to be able to undercut all your local bike shops by about 5% on anything Pro-Bolt produce.

Sit tight....

As for titanium and A4 stainless course pitch stuff, like engine casing bolts, fork pinch bolts etc. I should already be able to get what you need from my other suppliers. I can also supply these in A2 stainless which is a bit cheaper.
i also need 2 ss screen bolts with the rubber things, i lost them when i was replacing the clock bracket

Nearest size to the Aprilia screen screws is the M5x20 button head screws @ 37p each. M5 well nuts (I presume that's what you also want) are £1.90 each and postage would be a massive £1.50.
So that's £6.04 in total I believe.

I had a look on Ultimate Parts and they would charge £13.96!

Well nuts

Try these - I found them v. helpful, accommodating and competitive (even though they did allow me to buy the wrong size first time round), although I only bought 1 packet of 10. Fortunately, I live close enough to make a pleasant bimble there an easy option, with the added attraction of a slight detour for window-shopping at Bikers World.

Right-ee-ho-then. My Pro-Bolt/Tasty Nuts account is up and running, if it's on their website I can get it and I'll knock 5% off their price.

The stainless bits above are still available if you can't stretch to Pro-Bolt prices.
