Guy Martin's TV Series

#1 Post by D-Rider » Tue Feb 15, 2011 10:34 pm

I think most people are aware that TT and other street circuits hero Guy Martin has landed a TV series.

Billed as being in the mould of Fred Dibner (I thing the enthusiastic Engineering emphasis rather than steeple-jacking), it should make for a very entertaining series. Judging by this being launched on BBC1 with a prime-time slot, the BBC must think so too.

Called "The Boat That Guy Built", the first programme will be on BBC1 at 7:30pm on March 2nd.

That's great, I'm gutted my TV reception won't get it.

Not sure it'll last on a prime time slot though, he's a bit mental and a bit to odd for the masses that seem to require some sort of reality hit every 5 minutes.

Just dawned on me what a stupid idea reality shows are. I mean, take a bunch of egotistical twats and put them in situations that are far from anything they would encounter in their world, call it reality and we watch it on TV instead of experiencing it for ourselves.

How far from reality is that!

Have to agree with you there. After catching the wife watching something about Fat Gypsy Weddings last night, it got me thinking, who the hell thinks up this shite?

Which in turn got me thinking that if these kind of ideas are the best and actually make it through production and get broadcast, just how bad are the ideas that get dismissed straight away?

Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Used to love watching Fred Dibnar, more the later programmes about his "engineering" solutions, than bringing down chimneys, which were always watchable, but got a bit samey.
Then again I can still remember one where he is stood only a few yards away telling the film people don't it won't fall near us. Then bricks land a few feet away and he blinks and says "that was a bit close".
You could almost sense, (smell), the film crew filling their undercrackers!
Bit of a gamble for Guy, but hope it works for him after his problems last year.
Will certainly watch!

that is not easy - the bbc uses some very good ip geographical software....

but torrents of it will be released with in a few hours of it being shown - isohunt.com could well be a good place to look

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I haven't tried this yet but I may be able to record it, copy it on to a USB stick and then upload it on to the PC. What could happen after that would be left to the one eyed, parrot carrying, crutch utilisers.

Only in theory you understand :smt002
