Hey FP, (and for anyone else interested)

There's a bloody great big cyclone headed your way - category 4 according to the news last night. (That means winds up to 250km/hr!)

Better pack the poor Falco away safe and sound!

Scary shit for sure, but fortunately I'm in Melbourne, was meant to be flying into townsville early tomorrow morning (Thursday), but all the flights have been cancelled, so not sure when I'll get back, just hope there's something left to get back to.

On the upside there is a evac centre set up just across the road from me and the flood predictions don't reach my place, so fingers crossed.

Hope all is well with your place.

As an aside - is the Melbourne likely to suffer at all? I have an elderly sister in Rushworth, it's difficult to contact her as she's not too good with email and I don't like to phone unless it's an emergency as it confuses her even older husband.

All the best fella. I know a chap in Gladstone and in the far north reaches of Queensland.. A bit hairy to say the least. :smt009

Hey BG,

We might get a bit of rain here in Melbourne, but nothing to worry about. This country is so damned big that people (even us) forget just how far it is from anywhere to anywhere.

To give you a comparison:

To give you an idea of how big that cyclone is, here's Yasi superimposed on a map of Europe.

managed to get through to a few workmates and alls well in Townsville, most of them sustained some minor property damage, but no injuries and seemingly the preparations paid off.

No idea when I'll be able to fly yet.
