Tyres

It strikes me that tyres are as personal as underwear (unless of course you dont wear any then my analogy falls apart).
But back in the day we didnt have the choice you have today, I remember we had Dunlop or Avon (and if) my memory
serves me they were crossply only
, when it came to closed circuit or road racing you had Avon slicks (still crossply)
and as hard as nails okay the concrete we raced on was softer !.
So when I fit tyres today I tend to stick with what I know and am used to.......so on the way home tonight I had the biggest fright of my life when exiting a corner (with enthusiasm) the rear stepped out in a god almighty slide, apparently it looked all very deliberate and controlled (as the bloke following me told me at the traffic lights) "fook mate thats they way to ride it, proper ace that was".
I have never ever provoked a tyre into that sort of behaviour and never a Dunlop at that.
I still have a heart rate of about 22000 beats a second....I didnt dare tell him the truth
