When I was a Boy Scout in Nottingham back in the early 80's we had a ditty that circulated

'If you want to shit with ease,
put your head, between your knees
Give a grunt and then a squeeze
and out it pops like Colwick cheese...'

Yeah, not very pretty i know. It sits there in the depths of my memory and sometimes comes back.. usually when im sat in a bog.. however I remembered my childhood ditty just now so searched online for Colwick cheese, cos i'd not heard of it and wondered.

Seems Colwick was a village that was swallowed up by Greater Nottingham over the years and yes, they had produced a cheese there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colwick

Quite a regional ditty that.. :smt001 You'd not know of it if you'd not been a local.

Wonder how many other regional dittys and stuff there are that kids say these days that never really make it mainstream. Dont suppose there are any really..

There's a couple of old poems about Colwick listed on here http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/books/co ... lwick7.htm.. wonder if the poet wrote the cheese ditty for the local kids. :smt017

Anyways, that will have wasted a minute of your time, have a good day :smt003
