Thanks to the magic of ebay I now have a lovely MIG welder to join the angle grinder in my Big Cupboard of Man Stuff (cunningly disguised as a garage). Just need to learn how to use the sodding thing now.

Next up - Chainsaw

(Don't actually know what I'd use it for but I think every man should have one)

Get yourself the biggest adjustable spanner you can afford - a bloody great big Bahco is a thing of beauty and joy.

Verily, you have a point. Angle grinders are also a thing of great beauty should you have the luxury of electrickery. I love my angle grinder, changed my Z440 onto a fire breathing dragon... well.. made it lighter...

Brushcutters are another tool that should be in every chap's armoury ..... hours of jungle-warfare fun (though not exactly in stealth-mode)

Justable spanners are present in 4, 8 and 12 inch versions, although seldom used.

'Tis a very good tool but I think the angle grinder better fits the true essence of a man tool - driven by mechanical power (be it electrickery or petrol) and often complete overkill for the job in hand, oh, and the bigger the better.

Also forgot to mention the petrol powered pressure washer - worthy of a mention as it has an engine attached

I have one, probably from the same supplier as you, backmarker (Man at Q and M?) and it forms the main item in my toolbox arsenal. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing with immense overkill.

Any tool with a small, noisy, 2 stroke engine, is, by default, a man tool.

And that includes hedge trimmers, Jennies, grinders, chainsaws, lawnmowers, brushcutters, and so on.

If you have to put premix in it it belongs to a man.

I have recently organised the Snap-On man to come and visit me at my place of work. I am buying a spanner a week. So I am starting at 7mm and going to 19mm....twice. I've already got a few of the main sizes we use and just want to complete the set.

I've had set of sockets and a ratchet (8mm to 19mm)since 1990 and they are still as good now as they were then (they have had some abuse in the 20 years of ownership)

Snap-On for me all the way.
