Photochromic sunglasses

Anyone here using them? I've been contemplating getting some, with riding in mind, but I can't find any definitive information on how quickly they clear. I'd be grateful for any feedback

I'd call on an optician for definitive information on various types/brands but obviously being wary of vested interests.
My prescription specs are photochromatic and fairly responsive. Cant remember who's type tho.

Thought about them myself, until I found out they don't work behind a car screen. Obviously it's not an issue for riding, but I reckoned having different specs for car & bike somewhat extravagant.

I use a very light tint in brown which don't cut out an awful lot of light, but with polarising lenses which cut out glare - I find them very effective and they don't prevent me seeing when I go into darker areas. It's mainly the glare that blinds you.
Polarising lenses used to give problems behind a car windscreen but I think they've changed the way they strengthen the glass now.
Having said that - what's wrong with having one pair for driving and one for riding - after all, you don't wear any other riding gear for driving in do you? And the bike gear costs a fortune anyway, why spoil the ship for ha'porth of tar?

Just a bit concerned about riding out of bright sunlight into a deeply shaded patch.

From every optician I spoke to recently getting my glasses done. I get the point re separate glasses for driving & riding - just that I personally don't think it warrants it. But if it suits others, then it's a good idea to have a bike specific pair of course. I also had to get new frames as I found my other ones shifted in my helmet. I quite often ended up looking thru the top frame (most annoying), so I guess I've given priority to my glasses requirements for the bike. Of course the downside with having a plain pair & sunglasses pair is that I keep forgetting to take the sunglasses with me........doh!

IIRC a mate of mine had a photochromatic fog city insert, seemed to work pretty well in both the anti-fog and sun protection stakes.

Honestly didn't know that. Makes them kind of useless for most people with cars then I'd have thought.
(By most people I mean me obviously as I'm the idiot who would forget to leave a spare set that did work in the car in the car, and go out wearing the Reactolites.
