Can cats be 'menopausal'?

Our cat - approaching 9 - has, in the last couple of months, become increasingly demanding and clingy; everything - food, let out, cuddle - has to happen NOW!. No apparent reasons for her to develop feelings of insecurity. Any cat psychologists on here?

Interesting thought. It's a reason I hadn't considered.
I accepted regular episodes like that as just cat behaviour, specially since toms do it too.

Our cats 9 and he's acted that way for the last year, also if he doesn't like something or you iritate him he'll hook ya one LOL.
His favourite antic now is to sit on your lap and curl his paws WITH THE NAILS OUT, ouch

Perhaps it's just a mid-life crisis, then.
Best/worst cat's 'trick' I've ever experienced was performed by my mother's Burmese - he'd sit on the handrail round the landing, wait for someone to pass beneath, then drop on their head/shoulder from 6 or 7 feet up. Terrifying in the dark.
