Hi all,

Your bike licence is a vocational or add-on category. 6 points goes onto your main licence. So, when you get 12 points you get banned. If you have that many you can't drive your car nor your bike fella...

not if you already have a full car licence that you have held for more than a year

ie, you have the full 12 points to play with

Typically down here in the antipodes where everything is upside down, we get a start of 12 points then work our way to zero. Get to 0 then 0 license, kinda makes sense.

When I was commuting in London I managed to get to 15 before they took my license away, so would that go to -3 over here :smt017

The probationary period is 2 years, but it only applies to the first full licence obtained.

So in this case, if you have held your car licence for 10 years, pass your bike test and then pick up 6 points in that first 2 years, you will not lose your licence.

If you only had your bike licence and had passed your test within 2 years and picked up 6 points, then you would revert back to being a learner and have to go through the whole L test process again.
