At school it tended to be Knotty ... the simple expedient of adding a "y" to the end of my surname .... think my dad and grandad had the same nickname ... and my sons too ....
For a while after I left school I worked for a bank (before coming to my senses and studying to be an Engineer). While I was there I picked up the nickname "Diner" ... this came about through the fact that in the staff room we had a dartboard that we played on at every opportunity (we played in a league). At lunchtime chairs were in short supply and often the only vacant one was the one beneath the dartboard as nobody would sit there ... well, nobody but me - why be scared of a few darts?
Anyway, I was classed as a "dangerous diner" and the "diner" part of it stuck.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not following you!
