Camrider Toy Run to Yarl's Wood detention centre

Sunday 20th December 11.30AM start

http://www.camrider.com/news/200912-charityrideout.html

Dear Friends,

We have organised a Toy Run to Yarl's Wood Immigration Centre in Bedfordshire and urge as many people as possible to come along. Invites have been sent to people in the ‘Past Camrider Pupils’ group on Facebook but all Camrider’s friends are welcome just as long as they’re on two wheels and give Lexi (in the office) their full names by 17th Dec so they can be cleared by security when we get there. All details here:
http://www.camrider.com/news/200912-charityrideout.html

The idea is to brighten the day of the children who are locked up at Yarl's Wood with their parents until they hear whether their asylum seeking applications are approved or not. These children have been through a terrible time, some of them having fled horrendous circumstances in their home country to look for refuge in the UK. Their trauma then continues as they are incarcerated in England with the constant fear they'll be sent back to where they fled from.
This run is a non political friends event, solely to help the plight of children in need of a little cheer this holiday.

Hoping you may be interested or know of people who may be. Publicity for the cases of the children held at the centre is very welcome.

Kindest Regards

Camrider

Heard a radio report on this yesterday. A country treating young children in this way has no right to call itself civilised.

Yes - a very worthwhile cause.
I knew a family in just such a situation. Applications for asylum and appeals were turned down ... despite many family members having been murdered back home ... and they were sent back.
Heavy handed collection from their home in Coventry leaving mother and children very frightened and then locked up in the detention centre until deported.

Really wish I could come to lend my support to this but unfortunately I am already committed to something else that day and can't really get out of it.

shit - as in what a crock of shit

forwarded the link on to my mp asking for his views - 20 seconds to produce the email that he has to reply too - has to be worth while to draw attention to tossers

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
