Hey there guys and girls?
I currently have an SV650S and I feel I'm ready to upgrade but not sure what apart from a V Twin of course!!! Yes I've been well and truly seduced, I've been toying with the idea of a RSV or I did have a drinks bar put to me sorry a futura, I'm only 5'7 and a slim build, any input very greatfully appreciated.

That has been suggested by Pete but the only problem being the weight as I'm only small :( I'm still trying to convince him to let me take his out :)

Falco is as good a proposition as any and certainly a better allrounder than a RSV. As you are smaller than some I think the critical factor would be whether you can put your foot down and feel stable rather than weight. The choice between Falco and Futura would be down to what you want the bike for and asthetics. The Futura doesn't do it for me styling wise and there are other touring orientated bikes I'd rather have.

The Guzzi's are good though heavey and comparatively low powered but still a good proposition for road use and day to day ownership.

How about something like an Aprilia Shiver or Shiver GT or a Street Triple or 675 ?

.... and while we're adding cylinders, a sports 600 I4 would certainly do a good job of hitting the lightweight & compact criteria although you'd be sacrificing the low down grunt for top-end rush. It's a different riding style but it has its own merits - especially given the size/weight benefits.

reason she went for the sv was down to the engine weight - those rice burning IL 4s are quite heavy when you tip them....

and yes a falco would be good - but not many coming up for sale close by

.... but nothing like a Falco or RSV. I can certainly understand an SV would be lighter than a 600 I4 but a 600 I4 or 675 triple would be a lot lighter than a litre V twin and much more compact.
I had an R6 courtesy bike - it was so easy to ride and so light and manageable .... just a bit gutless at the bottom end - but no real issue - just I hadn't properly adjusted to it's characteristics from the Falco's. It was a hoot to ride - handled so well.

A work colleague has just bought a Street Triple and he can't believe how good it is .... though he has just moved up from a Divi 600 ...

I'd suggest these would be worth a test ride - and if they don't suit, fine.

A Falco is a big old lump and if you get it off balance it's not easy to hold - an RSV even moreso. I think the FutFut comes with stabilisers that drop down from the panniers.

funnily enough the rsv r is a lot lighter....

and as she had a ninja back in the day, she is now rather hooked on the v twin thing.....

and one thing she has noted - the 600's are not so planted on the road - the tyres etc

Just a bit of data I've gathered on a quick trawl - obviously different sources of info bring a bit of variability and different year models of some bikes vary too.

The point about the RSV being more difficult when trying to hold it up was not based upon weight - they are virtually the same and the chief things of the MilleR that make it lighter (the wheels) being low down won't change this much. The thing I'd recalled was the Mille's taller seat height - though having checked it's only 5mm higher so maybe not such an issue as I'd speculated.

If i4s are now "been there, done that" and Vtwins are the order of the day, then the Shiver could well be worth a look and maybe the Triumph option is a middle ground worth looking at.

Edit - forget the Shiver - it's virtually as heavy as a Falco

weights i was looking at was wet weights...

and really looking for something faired, or half faired at least

the street triple is an awesome bike - but also looking for something good for miles - as in sit all day at a ton plus with out having to go crazy up and down the gears....

Never mind all the statistics, and I don't know anything about the various bikes - but it sounds like you really want a Falco and if that's the case, then that's what you will get!

I came from an SV (followed by a ZX9r which was too lairy, and a GSX1400 which was too fucking heavy) and found the Falco to be perfect. Felt just like my SV except a shite load faster and the suspension is a thousand times better. Im 5'8" and 9 and a half stone - and find the falco fits perfect. Buy one!!

well, she has sat on my falco, which is a little taller than standard
(Sergeant saddle and WP shock set to quite hard...)

she could get both feet down comfortably and with a set of girly daytona boots with the lifts in she would be able to flat foot it

I think her plan is to head to a local stealers tomorrow to sit on a mille and see how it feels for comfort

will also look for a falco just in case....
