Bikers in Afganistan

Stolen from another site
"I am currently running a camp in Helmand Province in Afghanistan and I would like to get as many people as possible to send my blokes (many are very keen bikers) your read bike mags. I apologise for the direct approach but due to having to cater for everyone's tastes bike mags are not delivered as part of our Operational welfare package.
The postage is free( upto 2kg), all it would cost is the envelope.
The postal address is you would like to help is:
QM, TFH, Lashkar Gar, BFPO 715
Any help will be greatly appreciated and all mags will be read multiple times.

Perhaps we could send some to the Taliban too ...... the more time they spend reading and looking at bikes the less time they'll have for shooting at people and laying anti-personnel devices.
..... and if Obama can get a Nobel peace prize, on the strength of this suggestion, I'll start booking my trip to Stockholm !

You'd have to be at home long enough to find the time to go to Stockholm first!
Where are you at the moment Andy?
(Posting at 02:44 am usually means somewhere outside the UK, then again you could just be not sleeping well!)

LOL ... I'm at home ... and in the past year, apart from a week's holiday in Corfu, Stockholm is the only place I've been to .... though not to visit the Nobel institute ....
..... and I'm guessing you've not yet changed your forum clock setting to GMT .....

Anyway, I was out of the country when it changed so I am a bit behind!
You always remember them on the day, but coming back home a week or two later you are more likely forget.
As far as Stockholm goes, you've just been for the dummy run then?
You've probably done more to deserve it than Obama (so far), although he could get better. (I hope).

Somehow I dont think the Taliban would cope with the idea of riding anything that didnt look like a CG125..
We still got any members of the Biking press onboard?
Im sure they could persuade some of the other titles to send some direct off the presses..?

I think that quartermaster is going to get a bit overwhelmed if everyone that reads the message sends all their old mags out. Having worked in a QM department in my previous existance I can't help thinking it's a bit of a scam, filling up BFPO sacks (to push out the letters from home maybe?) and the stores with non essential 'stuff'

The British Forces Post Office (BFPO) has instructed Royal Mail staff not to accept any parcels addressed to unnamed soldiers because thousands of unsolicited packages are overloading the system.

I do realise this was allegedly an appeal rather than unsolicited, but .....
(The appeal went out on most bike sites, including the mags, on the web)

I have to agree with you on that one, especially bearing in mind the time of year we are coming to.

.... harder to imagine than the idea of you managing to send it unopened .... and I'm trying not to imagine what you might mean by "unused" ...............
