Last night I gave a presentation to the advanced group NetRoADAR who are based in Harlow in Essex.

If anyone from this part of the country is considering advanced training, then you could do a lot worse. Really friendly bunch of people, superb facilities and a nice atmosphere with a good cross section of ages.

I Did my RoSpa test in Essex, a bit more east though in Chelmsford. I did it as I believe generally with the principles of so called "advanced" motorcycling. I was very fortunate to have been a mate of an Essex police driving instructor, who taught me Advanced techniques far removed from what the local group teach. It was great fun and i learned huge ammounts, much of which I still practice today.

However, I find that the local groups membership is largely filled with evangelists who wear sam browne belts and tut at the mere mention of "Offsiding" and appear smug as they think know what the limit point is, but get confused when I mention what they actually mean is "limit point analysis".

If it prevents them from becoming a statistic, then all well and good, but I do my riding solo.

Don't get me started Don't judge every book by its cover, and strangely enough I did not see one sam browne on Thursday, and only 1 Beemer.

Like edverything there is good and bad, and believe me, I could tell you a few stories about the bad ones

I dont judge every book I read by its cover, when I have read several books I feel qualified to make informed comment.
I guess you are still in the job and enjoy the attention all the evangelists give you, some sort of riding guru, whose words are sacred. When you finally collect your pension you will find that when the fear of a nicking is no more, you will be treated somewhat differently. Certainly the experience of above mentioned mate.

The Sam Brownes were there along with the high viz jackets, you just didnt see them.

Scorpio, I think youll find TC's days of patrolling the roads in or on a white discoball are long over.

He is a bit of a riding guru, but strikes me as not the sort who jump off their bike in the carpark and go 'Tadaaa! It is I, TC... bow before me you lesser mortals' and more the type to come over and say something akin to 'Mate, if youre gonna back it in, raise your rear tyre pressure a bit, youll find the friction is less, more constant, therefore itll slide round more predictably..'
