RiderSite, Aprilia RiderSite and the Future.

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:24 pm

A while back it was asked about the future of the Site, what with BikeJohnny, our sponsor closing.
I apologise for the late reply, been sorting some stuff out, however the following is the score.

RS/ARS is held on the Jahlis Ltd server space, a large proportion of the server costs being borne by Jahlis's 'proper' clients, however this does not cover all the server space usage, obviously, cos we use it!
Jake contacted Sam and I by PM and the following is the bit we as a Site are left to cover.
I would feel we were not out of pocket if we could get funding of around £20-£30 per month (covering server and domain out of pocket expenses).

I am quite happy to cover it myself (with Sam also in agreement) however if any other people would like to contribute then PMs to Sam please and He can organise any donations!

I intend to sort out some form of payment plan to Jahlis at the end of the month in order to keep RS and ARS going problem free.

I refuse to however bring on any form of banner advertising directly on the Site as I hate the f*cking stuff. Its not the Business Pages, it's a Biker's Site.

I am toying with an idea for inviting certain Dealerships and Outlets making a donation in return for sponsorship of a forum, or similar, but minus all the big flashy banners.

IF people would like to purchase an exclusive title for under their names (like I have 'Admin') then they need to PM me and I will see what can be done! This bespoke bit of internet oneupmanship will cost a tenner for as long as the paying person is a member of the Site.
You can also buy them for a friend for their Birthday, Christmas Present or whatever else.. They will be asked if they'd like it though, so no buying 'Hacksaw freak' for your favourite fettler, cos if he doesnt like it, it aint gonna happen!

Any questions suggestions or phone numbers for free lapdancers, please respond below!

Thanks for your efforts on this Kwacks.
It is appreciated!
I for one would be happy to pay £10, £20 or even £30 a year to help support the running of the site, and I think other people would also be happy to contribute something. I don't think it should ever be compulsory but it would be nice if longer standing members could stump up £20 or so a year to make sure we can keep going.
If other people feel the same, and that means that after paying the external "running costs" this leaves something in the kitty, I would be very happy for the people like yourself to be paid something for all the work you currently carry out unpaid.
Thanks again mate!

I'm with what Howard said, think you all do a great job.

Keep it up.

I'll PM Samray for details.

I'm with Howard here, if somethings worth having, it's worth nicking, sorry I mean worth paying for.

That said, compulsary charges have stopped me joining forums before, but it would'nt make me leave this one (you'd have to try harder than that).

I would throw a few pennies in the hat. Its a good site, good gen and nothing in life is free, if its any good.

I would like to third that.
I'd be quite happy for Howard to pay £10, £20 or even £30 a year :smt003

Maybe a "Donation" button on the site linked to a paypal a/c ?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Wow! Great response for just the first few hours, although I shouldn't be surprised knowing what sort of peeps you are :smt001

I like the practicality of Kiwi's suggestion.

The size of donations being suggested would suggest to me mebbe using "This month's/week's RS Sponsor" title under the appropriate name or some similar arrangement ( except for those retiring violets who prefer to remain anonymous )

The first offer of a donation flooded in to my inbox at 9 am btw. I'll acknowledge it inna min, but Tim has sprung this before I was expecting and I think we need to set up a watertight sytem probably including a dedicated bank acct. before dosh arrives.

Pete's suggestion has merit too, I may pass the bucket around there! :smt003

All sounds good to me, except the bit about me paying for everybody!
We could always put a link in to pay the money straight into Tim's special account on ascension! :smt002 :smt030
Seriously, whatever you decide, I will be happy to contribute. Just let us know how you want it, PayPal sounds good, but can do a cheque if needed.

More than willing to chuck some coins in the bucket!

And if it bought me a personal caption I know just what it would be!

Thanks for the show of hands so far, appreciated.

Ill discuss it with Sam (and Jake too)
I was planning on creating an 'RS' paypal account to handle it as thats the easiest most transparent way. It keeps funds away from personal bank accounts and it can be opened on anyone's computer, so a visit to a third party can show what has happened with the monies paid in without having to have lots of scraps of paper.

Again thanks for the positive comments and responses both on here and by PM. Whatever happens it will be a positive move for the Site and im sure all regardless of what they ride will benefit in some way!
