Both bottom ones are being done at the same time, so no meat for me this weekend - and copious amounts of Nurofen I should think!

Anyone got a "good" experience of this to settle the old nerves?

I had All of mine out in a dentist chair, They were growing sideways in my gums and needed to be broken up with an impact like tool then pulled out with pliers
But then Us kiwis are tough

I swelled up like a chipmunk hoarding nuts for winter and I spoke like I had a bottle of Tequila injected straight into my blood stream.... but then again that was in deep dark Africa.... where we are also tough

The thought of even going to the dentist terrifies me after a bad experience when I was a kid, so you can imagine the state I was in when I was told that I had to have two wisdom teeth removed even though they had't really given me any grief.

It was done under a local and I was told that it could take a while as wisdoms could be right buggers.

I kid you not, in 3 minutes I was washing my mouth out with two manky teeth sat in the bowl

I didn't feel a thing, and within 24 hours I was back to normal with no real swelling or any pain.

I think it is luck of the draw, still don't like dentists though

.... Now where's Sab when you need him ...... I guess that a man "in the trade" has a good few stories to tell about this.

After having a couple of really bad experiences with the only NHS dentist I could sign up with I spent a small fortune getting my teeth fixed by a private dentist, including having a sideways growing wisdom tooth removed.

He explained before he started that many dentists cut the gum to remove a wisdom tooth thus leaving a wound that needs to heal as well as the cavity, but he prefers to cut up the tooth and remove it in bits as the patient isn't going to be needing the tooth again.

I couldn't believe it when he told me it was done, I was still bracing myself for the nasty bit to start! And the whole thing healed up completely in about 3 weeks!

Don't forget to get a vice like grip on the dentists nuts, "you hurt me, I hurt you" kind of thing.

WELL> I had an X-Ray, and a consultation and have to go to another, bigger Hospital - so am now on the list for all 4 to come out and spend a day in apparently.
My bottom 2 a seriously impacted, growing almost bloody horizontally as I saw on the X-Ray!
I've heard of the cutting gum wounds, but he said they'd take the tops off and the extract the roots as someone else said above.
I can still go out for a family meal and get drunk tonight - would be nice to have had it over and done with though...

Swelled up like a hamster after the op. never mind no meat for the weekend, I was on baby foods for a week. sweetened drinks through a straw.
