speeding on the road to Barmouth in Wales on Sat morning, 45 in a 30 he said

I now have to produce the required docs to my local cop shop within 7 days. Now I have all the docs, thats not a problem, BUT I am off to France for a week on the 1st May and will therefore be in a foreign land without a license.

The question is, can I defer the surrender of said license for a week or so, or will they lock me up and throw away the key?

If you have been given a producer form, you only have to take your documents in to the police station to show they are in order.

I had to do that with my insurance certificate when I got knocked off the other week. They didn't keep it - just checked it was all in order.

Cos' I was a naughty boy they are going to put 3 points on it for me, they will keep the license and give me back the other docs.

Just been informed that I only need a photocopy of my license in france, is this correct?

Oh - does that mean they can give you points without having to take you to court and prove their case?

If you have been given a fixed penalty, then the ticket you were given will act as your driving licence whilst your is being autographed

To answer D-Rider, the fixed penalty system was introduced over 20 years ago to take away the pain and anguish of having to go to court and also free up the courts time. Most people who are given a fixed penalty accept that they have been caught, but it does not take away the right to go to court and plead not guilty if you think you have been hard done by.

are you sure? i was in brittany last year, and was informed by my insurance company Ebike that photocopy's ar'nt acceptable and that the police can impound your bike untill you produce the genuine doc's.

Thing is, I always stick very close to the limits in 30s & 40s but 2 of my mates had just flew past me and I was'nt going to put up with that!
