booked into a hotel in moffat this weekend i usually go down there on the bike in the summer ,the buccleuch arms who he owner is a bike and gives 15% discount if your on your bike for rooms . :smt001

we had a nice day she checked out the shops i checked out the pubs ,
we had a lovley meal in the hotel and went down stairs to the bar , ther were 8 people al drinking away, and the bar man said last orders
( 10:45),,,,,, so its my turn to go to the bar (11:05) the bar man who has informed me that he is now the nite porter , wont serve me as the bar is closed :smt013 ther is only 3 of us left and after a bit of heated conversation he served us , we did retire to bed at 12 ()it was a long day ,

i have stayed in this hotel 3 times and its my 5 time staying in moffat never noticed this before

i did complain when i was checking out and said there is plenty of other hotels who would be more than welcome to take my money,
any way i got a 8% discount

can a hotel witch you are resident in stop serving you drink at 11 ?

I think they can close the bar any time they like - though the licencing laws allow them to serve alcohol to residents I don't think it means they have to!

Yes, I agree.......

Your best bet is not to go back..... We often stay just down the road in Longtown at the Graham's Arms. Safe parking for the bikes but the hotel is basic. The bar stays open for residents into the wee hours though.

However the St Mary's Loch and Dalveen Pass runs are a good enough reason to visit Moffat at any time! The Dalveen Pass run from the M74 to Thornhill should be on EVERY bikers "roads to ride" list!

I've stayed at the Buccleuch (how DO you pronounce that?) 3 times and not had problem with late(ish) drinks - that said, it was only around 11.30pm ish. Maybe you got Mr Grumpy! Nice hotel too with good food. Didn't know there was a discount for being on the bike though - roll on the better weather :smt045
