It was a civil service report which highlighted the already known fact that we throw away lots of fod every day. " A Downing Street aide said: "The paper argues that we need to take action to reduce food waste…In the UK, recent estimates suggest that households could save up to an average of £420 per household every year by not throwing away a total of 4.1 million tones of food that could have been eaten."

This is hardly Gordon Brown saying that Samray must personally stop wasting food. Much as I dislike the man (he's Scots for one thing) I dont see what you expect the government to do. Just ignore the issue?

Somehow basically sensible government messages about everything from food waste to the environment are getting lost in a sea of resentment. Some people (not suggesting you Samray) are even going in the opposite direction - making more environmental damage simply cos the govt is saying we must make less. I dont understand it.

Why can they simply not say
'The Ministry of Food' or whichever Ministry.. As soon as they add the tag 'Gordon Brown' everyone simply wants to assfek the... *insert newsy item here* until it bleeds..

He should start ALL sentences with 'The Ministry for.... has stated to me that....' and if he cant, then he should simply not open his fat fekkin gob in the first place. APART from to say those wonderful words.. 'I RESIGN'

On the flight to the summit, the Prime Minister urged British people to cut food waste and "reduce unnecessary demand".

He said: "We need a global plan to deal with rising food prices that are affecting millions of families in Britain. That's why I am proposing that we take action to both increase the global supply of food and reduce unnecessary demand.

"If we are to get food prices down, we must also do more to deal with unnecessary demand, such as by all of us doing more to cut our food waste which is costing the average household in Britain around £8 per week."

Kwaks - from the reports that I have seen (Times and Torygraph) GB hasnt actually said anything himself. Its the media that has personalised it and a civi9l service spokesman who has announced it.

But even if he has said something on the subject, I dont see why it should generate this sort of reaction. Or why the analysis of the problem should be any less true. And you wont find anyone less supportive of a Labour govt than me.

Mind you, the govt is responsible for a lot of food waste. It used to be turned into swill and fed to pigs, but thanks to the Chinese this caused disease and has not been bammed. So food slops from canteens etc either get burned or buried and fed to rats.

I really get annoyed when you see quotes like this
