The fixed penalty support unit (FPSU) is set to launch a website that will allo members of the public to access evdence captured by fixed and mobile "safety" cameras.

People who are issued with fixed penalty notices will be able to log onto the website to view the image the the FPSU holds of the vehicle that committed the offence.

A new web browser application has been devloped and it is hoped that the site will go live in the next couple of months and will be accessible at www.fpsuonline.co.uk

At the moment a security penetration test is being carried out which means that a security tester does all they can to hack into or break the system, but once completed and the system has passed, the first phase will see images of vehicles that have committed offences placed onthe website.

More detailed data is then expected to be made available during the second phase of the project.

Eventually the information to be included apart from the offending vehicles will include where the offence took place, accident histoy of that site and detailsof the calibration certificate of the device that captured the image.

So, all being well, within the next few months it should stop all the needless questions of "How do I get hold of the pictures before deciding whether or not to plead guilty!"

'Fraid so Andy. Totnes week before last (in the car). In a 30 zone, late at night, on a downhill stretch in the town - and automatics have near zero engine braking! My own fault entirely but still slightly annoying.... :smt009

This Policeman pulled a car over and told the man driving that he was going 40 mph in a 30 mph zone.
"I was only going 40!" Dave protested.
"Not according to my radar," the officer replied.
"Yes, I was!" the Dave shouted back.
"No you weren't!" the policeman said, starting to get annoyed. With that, the man's wife leaned toward the window and said,

"Officer, I should warn you not to argue with my husband when he's been drinking."
