docks in chebourg feeling dead proud cos i was'nt sick,so went down to the bike,when i spots a nice black falco mirror neatly placed on my seat.mine snapped off,. no one near the bike.when i finally found a member of staff he had allready taken photo's of the damage and told me that they had tried to alter the straps on the bike and dropped it leaving me a snaped mirror,deep gouge in the screen, bent break leaver (rear) and break light stuck on,clock's at 10 degrees, so i guese the frames bent, givi rack bent and deep scratces on the box. so holliday spoilt and the bikes going in today for a estimate. nice one brittany ferries.

So, because they felt it necessary to fiddle, they ruined your holiday and have given themselves a hefty repair bill to boot.

what they said when i spoke to them this morning is take your bike to your dealers and get a quote for the damage send it to us and we'll come to an arrangement .i've got legal cover with my insurance so i guese i'll see if it's worth the extra.

I reckon the best ferry recently appears to be sea-france - proper bike rail /wheel clamp type parking - I was impressed (but I'm easy pleased )

TBO why didn't you carry on with your holiday and make them hire you a bike, while yours is fixed.

BTW you do realise that Brittany Ferries is registered in France, the masters of manyana in court proceedings for foreigners.

A bad way to end a holiday, hope you get it sorted quickly Ian, last thing you want is the bike off the road waiting for approval for a repair, just as the weather is getting better (??).
I know I am an old fart but never really been happy with strapping any bike down in transit that does not have a centre stand, or alternatively using some locating channel like on a trailer.
Thought that way even before I got the Falco!

Unlucky, but at least they've shown some initiative by taking the photos and they've admitted fault (witnessed?) so you might be surprised.

Carefull with the claim though, make it too hefty and it might be a write off. IIRC the repair bill only needs to come to something like 60% ofthe book value to be written off.

Think about getting the big numbers from Aprilia and then a smaller number form your friendly mechanic and see what parts you can pick up from the forums and ebay etc to keep costs down.

I'd fly the big number by the ferry co 1st though, probably a drop in the ocean for them (pun completely intended )

yeh they've allready told me that if i want the scratched frame re painted it's game over,so i'll have to put up with that, the bikes worth 10 times what the book says.

there fault, you have legal cover, make them fight for you

ask for copies of the photos btw - and may well be an idea to get in touch with watchdog or similar

oh, and seperatly sue them for a ruined holiday

The more hassle it is for them the less likely they are to do the same to the rest of us - maybe they'll even fit those clamps that Snappy mentioned if their half-arsed methods start costing them.

i recieved a call from two wheels in mansfield today with an estimate for the damage to my bike,the cost for parts alone is £1816.00 + labour. im really getting worried now that it's going to get wrote off.

But surely it can only get written off if you are claiming on your insurance ?

I thought your claim was against the Ferry Company for the damage they have caused .... though I guess there may be some small print to limit their liability that you may have signed up to when booking the ferry crossing
