Anyone had one of these? The Dragon has just bought a 2001 in pretty good condition, seems like the rear disk has had a lot of wear which seems odd

Does anyone have any experience of them and can help with any hints or tips pleeze ?

I have yet to get a test ride of the beastie

They're ok. Never gonna set the world alight, 75bhp air cooled engine, soft suspension and so so handling. Brakes are a bit weak but then I'm comparing all this to my Falco so not really fair.

My dad has had a Zr7-S since brand new on a 52 plate so nearly 6 yrs. Rides it every day for work and he took it to the Isle of Man with me last yr. Its never missed a beat, gets hammered and still looks good (and he's not the best at cleaning). He keeps looking at ZZR1400's but the ZR7 works, its comfy and as long as you service it on time, it won't let you down...................just don't expect it to be a race bike and it won't disapoint!

Thanks for that Bigun - it was what we wanted to hear - the old dragon just wants a reliable bike, this one appealed to him cos it was modern engineering but standard looks, the maint schedule is covered with a local workshop

oooh what a lovely well behaved little beastie this is, picks up from a slow (pot holed, narrow and damm tight) second gear junction and pulls beautifully up to dual cabbage speeds without a squeak - well with quite a pleasant semi scream really, up towards the red. Balanced at slow speed in town traffic to near zero, needs a bit of encouragement on tight bends but then I'm used to the Raptor. Everything seems easy on it - even has a centre stand, an absolute darling
I'm guessing the rear brake wear was merely the previous owners' manner of riding

They got some shit write ups from the bike press as they weren't race reps. I had a CB750 F2N retro at the time, and I had a ZR7 out for a 2 hour test ride when I was thinking of changing it. It was a fine easy riding bike, cheap price and very similar on power and performance to the CB750. Not exciting, just a nice easy ride, with a bit of wallow if you really pushed, but otherwise fine.
