I assume you mean the new shape Hyundai? My brothers had the old shape 1600cc version for about 4 years now.
Paid £5000ish now worth £500ish
but I've been impressed with it. Has 160000 miles on and there is not a spot of rust. Not one. Which is saying something cos he washes it once a year and hoovers it every leapyear. The only part that corroded are the wheels but they cleaned up and got sprayed again.
Always thought hyundai were a budget make but its proved me wrong

Skoda
No, seriously, Octavia VRS, old shape ones are cheap as chips, loaded with goodies and have an Audi TT 1.8T (180bhp) engine.
New ones are even quicker.
And when all's said and done it's a Volkswagon for good money.
Had one, sold it and regretted it ever since

My daughter had an old style MX5 and that was good fun. Reliable but loud and lots of rattles and thumps so not realy ideal for relaxed long distance work.
Like most things it depends what you want it for. She had it for every day and her enthusiasm lasted nearly two years. With lots ofr winter motorway mileage she wanted a "grown ups" car and now has just bought an Audi A3 TDi. That drives nicely and looks pretty.
Always thought the Hyundai's a little misshapen.
Ps, I've had a couple of beers and can't find my glasses so I can not read what I'm typing........

I'd love to have a merc but can't afford the one I want.
I chose those three after a bit of research. The MX5 is top choice 'cause it looks good and get's good reviews. I'm undecided about the honda and Hyundai 'cause the honda has crap visibility but the cockpit looks lush and the Honda I currently have has been pretty good tbh. The Hyundai .......hmmmm no space for rear passengers [that could be a plus] and a bit long...........still to have a test drive.
