Had a run out to Lincoln today and spotted two plain clothes cop bikes... a one of these
http://vne-resource.iol.co.za/30/picdb/3/b/37005

And a black R1 !!

Both very easy to miss if you are not looking for them...both in plain black leathers with white lids ...and a very small "police" on the side of the bike and lid.

Watch your back lads ... :smt002

Can't we pull them for this ? .... would only be fair and consistent with them pulling us lot for non regulation sized identification markings ....

.... well when I say "us lot" .... I guess I'm technically not including myself as I still carry the regulation billboard ....

What is regulation sized identification? :smt002 You are lucky, in my day we had plain unmarked bikes and cars, and we even wore non regulation helmets and different colour leathers, just had "Police" on the breast pocket and our collar numbers on our shoulders. The blue strobes were concealed in the indicator mountings, and on the plain cars the lights were either behind the grill or in the foglight housing and you would not know it was a Police car until the flip up sign went up in the back window. :smt003 particularly our Capri 2.8i and the 2.8i Sierra 4x 4. The Honda ST1100 was a good stealth bike, had many happy hours in the saddle on that, the 1100 Moto Martin with Norton frame and Yamaha XS1100 engine was interesting as well as no one ever suspected even though it was pretty unique being a prototype.

Now that was fun! :smt003 Oh happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt002

The sneaky bastards - no wonder me feckin' council tax has gone up !
Those Cnuts going around on kit like that :smt013 - must be that "Operation Stealth"
I went over to Hein Gericke at Lincoln meself today on me K12 as well, but on the low road (which they never stake out)
Just so you know, they've got a black Audi A4 estate, & a silver Skoda estate as well :smt002

It's a shame Lincs Police don't spend the money on sorting proper crime instead
Grantham CID couldn't catch a fecking cold.......they spend all their time out on the piss, cluttering up my local boozer !

what really pi$$es me off though is ...where I live the local asbo's run round the streets, local woods and public footpaths ... on crossers / quads / minibikes ...(this is every weekend) ....and not one cop is to be seen!! ...they know about it but choose not to do anything.

But you ride down the road with a small reg plate and ....nee naah nee naah "pull over matey your'e nicked" :smt013 :smt013

I'm all for the way they are, makes us more observant so consequently safer on the road.

What Gio said!

Cant say I get overly excited by unmarked vehicles to be honest.

If Im speeding then I know the risks and accept them, be it injury liable in an off or getting pulled by an unmarked vehicle.

I'd sooner spend my time watching for hazards than sneaky distractions. :smt009

Why is it that every time someone thinks traffic Police are doing something a little untoward or simply doing the job they are trained to do people jump on the bandwagon and start complaining about proper crime and so on :smt013

CID officers (Superstars :smt002 )are not traffic officers and vice versa, but traffic officers catch more criminals involved in crime than most CID because the motor vehicle is used more in the commision in crime. Most traffic officers have seen more dead bodies through bad driving than the majority of CID officers, and when anyone is involved in a serious crash the first thing they do is get on the phone requesting Police attendance which is invariably a traffic cop :smt002

But traffic cops are the first ones to get slagged off because they do their job and because people don't like beng stopped even though they know the rules of the road but choose to ignore those rules.

It also seems that it is OK for a trafic cop to stop every muppet on the road so long as they don't stop you!!!!!! :smt013

You can't have it both ways. Obey the rules keep your vehicle legal and you will have no problems, choose to ignore those rules and you have no one to blame but yourself.

I was trained as a traffic cop not a superstar (CID) and yet the firs comment often made is "Why are you not out catching real criminals Wel believe it or not the catching of real criminals often starts with the stopping of a vehicle for something that may seem quite petty initialy, but at the end of the day that routine stop may also prevent someone dying.

I am not having a pop at you, and I am not particularly pro or anti Police anymore, I have done my time and I am glad to be shot of the job, but comments like that do p1ss me off somewhat.

Surely it's immaterial whether he did or not - what he's saying I agree with - if we stay within the law there's no problem, if like most of us we decide sometimes to ignore it we just have to accept the consequences if we're caught by a copper who is simply doing his job - just like getting a parking ticket when we're 'only nipping into a shop for a minute'.

You show me someone who has never knowingly broken at least 1 traffic law and I will show you a liar! I am no exception :smt019

However, on those occasions when I decide to break those regulations or laws it is in the full knowledge that if I get caught, I have no one to blame but myself!
