You are lucky, in my day we had plain unmarked bikes and cars, and we even wore non regulation helmets and different colour leathers, just had "Police" on the breast pocket and our collar numbers on our shoulders. The blue strobes were concealed in the indicator mountings, and on the plain cars the lights were either behind the grill or in the foglight housing and you would not know it was a Police car until the flip up sign went up in the back window. 
particularly our Capri 2.8i and the 2.8i Sierra 4x 4. The Honda ST1100 was a good stealth bike, had many happy hours in the saddle on that, the 1100 Moto Martin with Norton frame and Yamaha XS1100 engine was interesting as well as no one ever suspected even though it was pretty unique being a prototype. Oh happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

)are not traffic officers and vice versa, but traffic officers catch more criminals involved in crime than most CID because the motor vehicle is used more in the commision in crime. Most traffic officers have seen more dead bodies through bad driving than the majority of CID officers, and when anyone is involved in a serious crash the first thing they do is get on the phone requesting Police attendance which is invariably a traffic cop
