im off to france in june with a group of mates, can any one recomend good breakdown cover for the bike at the right price.cheers.

When I was in the trade, Green Flag an Europ Assist were regarded as the two best for overseas cover both in quality of service and price.

Not sure if EA are still going, but Green Flag certainly are, and I understand Britannia Rescue offer a pretty good service these days.

One thing that has not changed is that the AA and the RAC are the two worst for European assistance, and I know of 1 guy who was recently quoted £1000 + by the RAC just for them to come out and have a look (using their local agents) even though he had personal cover including overseas. He was left high and dry in Southern Germany and had to fly home and make his own arrangements to recover the bike.

I've always used the Eurotunnel and have taken out their breakdown cover.
haven't needed it yet so can't really say if it's any good.
Make sure any insurance will recover your bike in the course of an accident, not just breakdown.

Hi Ian, I'm with Green Flag but not used them.

They are cheap though £64 cover my wife and myself in or on any vehicle or anything we're travelling in.

Think they give 31 day European cover in this deal.

Haven't had to use it meself, but a mate had problems with a rear wheel bearing on his TDM the other year on the way back from one of our Pyrenees trips
They were bloody excellent - picked up within an hour - bike taken 85 miles to a Yamaha main dealer - arrived at 4.45pm on a Friday night - all fixed by 10.30 am the following morning - cost him 66 euros for the parts
He got text updates of progress every couple of hours

And - double result - we found a brilliant micro-brewery in Clermont Ferrand to pass Friday night away

thats good to know - have used their rescue (SOS) in uk and euro cover's included, the UK rescue's been brilliant

i've tried green flag they will only give me full years cover at £167, ebike will top my bike policy up for £49 for the remainder of my insurance.ill try carol nash in the morning.

Possibly not the AA.
