Mobile Phones. Choices..choices...

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Fri Jan 11, 2008 7:19 pm

Just got off the phone from organising my next phone on my contract. Now it's been about.. 12 years... since I last had a Nokia. Ive got a 20 quid a month contract which i didnt wish to change and also requested a free phone as im buggered if im going to buy a phone when ive got a contract, they come locked to the provider, so the provider can bloomin' well provide one!
Anyways, after considering a newer Nokia K850, umming and aahing with the girl on the phone about the brand and not really considering much else, I suddenly piped up.. 'What are Nokia like nowadays?'
She confided in me at that point that she was an absolute babe, was answering my call wearing nothing but a skimpy tight black skirt and a crisp white blouse, dangly earrings and high heels. I take it then that Nokias are still a pain to work with as far as the menu system goes? :smt017
She did also mention that as a Sony Ericsson kinda guy, I'd be really hacked off with the Nokia, but.. well... one has to be daring sometime I guess!

So.. Nokias...
Good Bad or Just plain Ugly?

Im going for the N6500 I think it was, the slider one.

Feel free to laugh and point. I have 14 days grace to change my mind and get a different one. :smt019

Nokias rock. Every time I've tried a different make I've regretted it. Sony Ericssons.......... ptooey, break all the time. Motorolas........ another top level cruddy phone.

Go on live life on the edge, you won't regret it

http://www.yourmobilephonereviews.co.uk ... eviews.htm , gets good reviews when its working :smt002 Sounds like its 2 days before it needs a recharge but cant say that bothers me, I have the charger next to my bed and charge my phone every night

Looks like its going for £150-200 on ebay so you can always sell it.

I've only used other peoples nokias but I've just got my first one, a 6110 with satnav built in and it seems fine. Makes phonecalls aswell !

edit : Myrkk - nokias may have half the mobile market but samsung have the style :smt016

Work uses Nokias. Ive always considered Nokias, of any model, to be the Ford of the mobile Phone world... the company car.. Capable, standard, boring and well... not very interesting.

I cant remember why I moved from a Nokia before. That phone was great.. made calls and sent texts..that was it. did the job perfectly.. I think I was just bored with it to be honest. I have had Motorolas, Phillips, Sony Ericssons, Samsungs and another 3 makes I cant remember much about bar the shape of the phone.

I used to consider Sony Ericsson to be a more elite phone and something one aimed to own eventually, but theyve lowered themselves and now, well, theyre a bit chavish, following the walkman route. I think that's why Ive moved away from them.
I was considering another o2 XDA however the Graphite ive got on the other half's contract is not performing to expectations. Great phone, great functions, just not very robust.

I'll give the Nokia a go for a week (get it Tuesday) then if it doesnt come up to scratch i'll either Ebay it or send it back and get a different phone. :smt012
