Has BP run out of fuel?

#1 Post by TC » Mon Dec 17, 2007 7:39 pm

On the way home on Friday I decided that I really ought to top up the car with fuel for the weekend even though I still had about 150 mile range showing.

So, I called into my local BP station, all the diesel pumps are covered up, obviously they have run out thinks I. Not a problem, I will fill up on Monday when their stocks should have been replenished.

So, on the way home tonight, I call into my local BP again, they are still out of diesel and unleaded. So, I drive about 3 miles down the road to another BP station and they are out of diesel and unleaded, so on to the 3rd BP, guess what? Yep, their tanks are empty as well. (I only use BP normally for the nectar points :smt001 )

Fortunately I found an Esso station that had plenty of diesel.

So, what is it with BP? If I didn't know better I would start to wonder if they haven't paid their supplier (I know they are owned by the parent company :smt002 ) or maybe the Reading/Woodley area is on some sort of BP blacklist.

Anyone else had difficulties?

Can't remember where it was but was near Kingston, the BP there had no diesel.

I'll only ever buy at BP if I have no other option.

Oh and aren't BP now part of Exxon?

I try not to use my local BP but it's more to do with the guys behind the counter who look and act well dodgy so unless I happen to have cash on me I would drive to the next garage rather than give them my card.

The local Tesco Express seems to be forever out of diesel though which I find odd for a company reknowned for making sure they are in a position to extract every penny from potential customers.

Funnily enough my local Esso garage had run completely out of Diesel yesterday

Wierd or what?

It's spreading.
Chris Hunt, director general of the UK Petroleum Industry Association, said the blaze at Coryton refinery in Essex, was continuing to affect supplies.
