This has been bugging me each day into work for the last couple of days.
What is the average temp. of tarmac on the motorway at
rush hour
peak quiet time
and what is the difference between the tarmac temp and the temp on say a quiet B road?
Anyone know or can point me in the direction of an answer.......it's bugging me.

Don't know the answer i'm affraid, but i would imagine it also depends on if there is a much traffic using the road, it's got to be a warmer when there is ???

There is no specific answer because there are so many variables. Tarmac on a bridge can be warmer of cooler dependant on the time of year and where it is located, and the type of tarmac used can have a bearing, particularly if it is just a dressing rather than a full relay.
Tarmac in urban areas will stay at high temperatures longer than on rural roads, volume of traffic has a part to play as does the age of the surface being measured.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Time of day would make a difference too - and weather - and why on earth do you want to know?

It's just one of those things that pop into your head BG...... and it's bugging me.
Each time I get into the car I find myself wondering about the average temp. of the tarmac..... what it is at rush hour, what it is at quiet times, what it is in summer, what it is in winter, what it is on B roads.........
It all started when it was icy t'other morning, I was considering how it affects your driving and how so many idiots don't change their driving. Then I went on to, well back roads are more dangerous than motorways 'cause the volume of traffic melts the ice quicker on a motorway as it heats up in rush hour traffic..........then onto "hmm, wonder what the average temp. of tarmac is"
Cheers TC, all those thoughts are going through my brain too and I'm still wondering what temp? Ho hum, guess it will bug me forever, or until the stutter rap gets played next.
