Radio 1 were doing various artists covering other artists' songs as part of the birthday celebrations they had the other week. got me thinking on cover versions of songs that shouldnt work, but do. (Rolf Harris's being an exception)

I think this Shania Twain cover works, but a female artist singing an AC DC classic in a country stylee? Shouldnt work...

That is just plain awful..... and she doesn't look at all embarrassed :smt009

IMO this is one of the lamer ACDC songs but it still deserves better.

The problem with covers is that if someone (anyone) does a cover of a song you love then you're probably going to hate it. And the flip side is that when you hear a song for the first time and like it - but it turns out to be a cover - then you struggle with the original.

Perhaps it would be interesting to think of songs where you like more than one performer's versions.....

................ goes away to think :smt017

Lulu didnt do too badly either. :smt002

Have to agree though. Nirvarna do a damn fine rendition of it. Nirvarna (and Mr. Cobain) could turn their hand to anything with shades of excellence every time.

Welcome back by the way Kwackerz - assuming this posting frenzy indicates that you are indeed home. :smt006

It's been pretty quiet round here of late.

WARPIGS - Black Sabbath / Faith No More / Sacred Reich
(Please excuse the political nature of the videos, some images may upset/offend, this is not my intention).

California Girls - Beach Boys / David Lee Roth

I am not sure you can 'cover' your own song. But if you can, here is how not to do it...

Jump - Van Halen with DLR / David Lee Roth does Bluegrass :smt018

Edited to add a third Warpigs version.
