From Sky news:
A murder hunt has been launched after a motorcyclist was shot dead on the M40 motorway.

EastAir ambulance crews treated the man at the scene of the incident between junctions 13 and 12 in Warwickshire.

But he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police confirmed they were treating the incident as murder and said an incident room has been set up at Warwickshire Police headquarters.

Detectives are appealing for information from motorists travelling on the M40 this afternoon who may have witnessed the incident.

It is thought the biker may have been a visitor to the Bulldog Bash at the nearby Long Marston airfield near Stratford - billed as Europe's number one biker party.

Both carriageways of the motorway in Warwickshire are closed between junctions 14 and 12 southbound and northbound between 10 and 13.

The motorway is expected to remain closed for up to six hours.

Organisers of the Bulldog Bash said they were aware of a shooting.

A spokesman said: "At the moment we are all a bit shocked about the shooting - I've got nothing to say."

"It was very noticeable that the man was very still and was not wearing any shoes."
Bare feet?

Is it possible to ride a bike without footwear?

I'll reserve my sympathy until more is known.

I think until the facts are known there are going to be a good number of nervous bikers - particularly when riding on Midlands motorways.
Until it's proven that there's not an anti-bike nutter out there with a gun, I bet a lot of people will be taking an extra special look in their mirrors and adding an extra "lifesaver" at regular opportunities.

Got any spare flack jackets Kwackerz?

The shoes thing is intriguing.

No one really knows what happened yet and it is all too easy to treat the whole thing lightly. We read about it in the rags and watch it on the TV it all seems very distant.
Have a look at this site and read the guestbook (especially his partners entry) it makes it that little bit more “real”

Right I’ll get of this soapbox now

Unauthorised use strictly prohibited and will be dealt with.
I guess that'll worry whoever did it. Does anyone fancy a bunch of Hells Angels on their tail?

If you wanted someone dead would you shoot them on a M-way in full view, or was this an anger killing or maybe road rage?
Probably something more sinister! missing boots? if this has any significants then maybe an example to other Angels.

show off, lol

I dont understand the lack of boots, unless it's the blood loss shock thing whereby they fall off.

I'd be pretty bloody shocked.

I noted the breakdown of the various groups. Interesting reading, be fekked if I'd put my name to it though. (The bit about the bandits)

I guess more info will come to light as people remember things.
