We (military) have a facility called Headley Court. It's in Surrey not far from Boxhill.
It's our focal point for specialist care and rehab for our Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen who've caught a packet on ops.

The facility is brilliant as are the Doctors and teams who work there.

There is a need to improve the care for the relatives and families though, something which SSAFA have been attempting to do with the purchase of a House near to the facility. This will enable the families and the Military persons a much needed sanctuary where they can basically sort their shit out and get to grips with life after an incident. The house is being objected to by the residents of the area. Some reasoned, some plain stupid arguments.

Could you do me a favour and read the site below and if you do feel in agreement, or wish to help, could you please sign the e petition posted after it.
Thanks for the time. I know I punt a lot of military crap on here at times (tends to go with my background) however this is something a bit more special and which I'd be truly grateful with your help with.

Cheers Pete. Genuinely appreciated.

Ive used Headley Court myself for my back problem, a really minor thing compared to what a lot of the lads n lasses go thru. The care provided is immense, this House will be the icing on the cake and an integral part of the whole care process. An injured Soldier is only part of the Injury. The hurt and suffering families suffer is nigh on as much. To have a Dad have his legs blown off is a huge thing to deal with. The house will go part of the way to aiding the rehabilitation of the family as much as the guy and be a hugely influential part of the early process.

Have signed the petition Kwacks, it looks very worthwhile, if this country expects people to fight it's silly wars, it should at least look after them and their families, if they are injured.
Then again, I suppose the 1000 or so ex servicemen living rough on the streets in London could always have their families stay with them, so we don't have to worry so much about them! :smt009

signed it Kwak - for obvious reasons - 'we' send 'em out, we have duty of care when they get back

The Police have a similar facility just down the road from me at Goring, and having had to use it a few times myself, I understand with first hand knowledge what a god send these type of establishments are.

I have and am happy to sign :smt003

The injured servicemen (and women) need all the help and support they can get. Opposing something like this is insulting and offensive to all the people in all the services.

The hearing for the planning application is today, this evening down in Dorking.

Sam will be annoyed when I post the link.. :smt005 as he cant access it, but there's quite a huge thread here if people wish to see just how deeply squaddies have gone in campaigning this.

We won!

Thankyou so very much to all who took the time to sign the petition.

I watched the proceedings on the Council's weblink. I must say it was very well done under tough circumstances. Imagine world level pressure on a local council planning committee's shoulders!! They did very well and kept it businesslike, trying to avoid the pressure of the actual circumstances taking over. They did bloody well.
