Ok completely non bike related but with a wide spread of knowledge someone might be able to help...

My Father is a bit fragile, he has Parkinsons disease at a fairly advanced stage and heart problems.
He does not need conventinal 'Nursing' but he does need someone who is aware of the problems to keep an eye on him as he can be wobly and liable to stumble and fall.

Mum is always there for him but it can be hard work so she needs a break!

Does anyyone know of a hotel in a nice location that he can go to for a couple of days thus allowing Mum to relax knowing that he is being looked after, and for her to come to France with me for a couple of days.

Alternatively is there a register of checked out respite careres who can come and look after him at home in Surrey?

Any thoughts/ideas

seriously, respite beds are scarce, and most of ours are booked on a rota system, with most places booked well in advance

BUT

may I make a couple of suggestions?

get your dad referred to social services - tell them you want an active social worker now, thank you very much - it is important to be on the social services books. Oh - any one can refer to social services... getting them to do something may be different depending on areas/funding etc
(They also have access to assorted respite places)

Instead of going away for a break, consider a break at home - block book an agency to provide one to one care for a week, and that will allow your mum to relax and head out with you.
(Use a reputable agency - BNA, Allied etc - live in carers for a couple of days/week are very common). In that case, strongly suggest that you book a couple of trial runs - ie, an afternoon, then an over night and then do the trip etc - helps put all people's minds at rest
