Seems it has been raining around the country.
Just thought I'd offer condolences from the dryest part of our fair land. :smt001

Wonder if it will rain here today? :smt017

Nope! Didn't rain here until about 6.30pm. Even then just a spit or two. Nowt major. :smt001
By which time I'd done some 100 or so Falco miles. I made good progress on one or two of em too. :smt003

A little less cloud tomorrow and I just might do a few more. A little more sedate this time perhaps :smt002

Anyone wanna buy a dinghy? :smt003

Beautiful day today, went to a children's party at one of those farm places where they fed the lambs and rode ponies and had a tractor ride.

And happily sunburned on Sunday too.

Did it rain somewhere?

Apparently so.

We've just been warned onto standby for flood aid.

Which is nice, as we're just about to go on leave.. :smt011

So if you've got a flooded village, call the fire brigade. They have nice shiny red trucks. Telephone number is 999.

Sorted.

Just to move the thread on.. (okay maybe i just want a rant)

There's systems in place locally that people should be bringing up with their MPs before the event., asking questions about what happens should there be a flood, what defences are in place and asking the various agencies what the action plan is and whether they have one. These people work for you at the end of the day, People should be raising the issues with these people, not sitting back and then acting like their world has fallen apart when they wake up to 4 ft of water downstairs. If you live next to a river, you're gonna get wet sometime possibly. Whatcha gonna do?

At times I just want to scream at some of these people really really loudly.

They spend so much time whinging about pikeys, immigrants and dual carriageways round towns they forget the important stuff, the stuff that'll stop their lives being trashed. :smt019

*edit* And buy mastic and hardwood plyboard for flood defences for houses, not sandbags. Sandbags are holey bags filled with sand. They dont really stop water so much as filter it... I suppose it's just 'the done thing' to use sandbags. Theyre for diverting floods, not preventing water ingress into houses :smt015 :smt018 A drill, a saw, some rawlplugs and screws, a big tube of mastic or three and a few sheets of plyboard saves much more heartache..

I reckon Ive sorted a plan for when I finish in the Army. just gonna drive round selling the above every time there's a storm due. :smt002

I reckon I'll be able to retire when im 45

We are on flood alert as well, personally I can't see it reaching our house unless everything from Kingston to us is underwater.

Even the flood plain opposite us is dry :smt003

I'm pleased to say our local Councillor and MP are 25 foot lower down than us :smt003 :smt003 :smt003.

As an aside I think we should be going to the Thames Barrier and blowing it up, drown London instead. :smt098

Indeed they are, but knowing the local council they'll take care of their own :smt019
