Light at the end of Fatboys tunnel??
Well Graham, here is the answer to your question
Unfortunately this is a one way trip for me.
The cancer is way too advanced to be operable, we are now at the palliative care stage of proceedings.
It seems most likely that the cancer was misdiagnosed as worsening COPD symptoms, no one is to blame
I will be having extensive CT scans early on November so I should have an idea of what kind of nick I'm in.
Middle finger still raised

Bugger. But I remember they said that about Wilko Johnson's condition, and look how that turned out... OK, I know we're talking wildly different scenarios, but... Anyway, keep us posted on scan results and anything you feel like sharing.
And keep that middle finger raised...

If this is it, I've got a feeling you'll be back, bigger and badder next time

That's not the news I envisaged from the title of the post, but that's maybe just my sick mind.
Bad news, great attitude.

Re: Light at the end of Fatboys tunnel??
It's with a heavy heart that I have to convey the sad news that the light that burned within Paul (fatboy) was extinguished last Wednesday. He passed on peacefully at home, surrounded by friends and family as a result of an aggressive strain of cancer that was late in being diagnosed. I only met him in person once, but counted him as a firm friend and always enjoyed reading his contributions to the forum.
The friend that conveyed the sad news is hopeful that at some time in the future she can arrange some kind of memorial celebration and will inform me as and when this happens. When that happens I will be sure to let everyone know. In the meantime, keep that throttle pinned and that middle finger raised, Paul.
RIP, fella...

Really sad to hear this. Pretty sure FB will be racing around wherever he is now though

That sucks. One virtual beer raised in salute down here.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

I've learned from Paul's friend/neighbour that he should be getting a bin lorry drive past at his funeral (he was union rep and transport organiser at the waste services plant), which would have pleased him no end. A great shame that we can't give him a Falco sound of thunder ride past as a send off as well, but that's how it goes.

Re: Light at the end of Fatboys tunnel??
Paul's funeral will be on 2nd March at 1.30 pm and there will be a webcast of the service, so I'll add details as and when I get them. There will also be the opportunity for the person running the service to read out messages from attendees, so I will put some words together for that. If anyone wants me to add anything on their behalf just put it in this thread or PM me.
And yes, cancer is a bastard. Paul is the 4th friend I've lost to cancer in under 12 months.

RIP and ride free Fatboy.
