What bike (or non-bike) related tasks have you been doing during this extended period of being with 'er (or 'im) indoors?

Re: The things you're doing during lockdown
I'm busy, gardening, watching documentaries, chatting to friends etc on WhatsApp, jigsaw puzzles, making a flyable plane for my grandson, playing online games. There's never enough hours in a dayBen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 7:36 amInspired by this post, here: https://bikerrated.com/gear/maintenance ... vival-kit/

I hate it when people ask if you have a bathroom, I want to say "No we pee in the garden"

Ridiculously, mostly working! I work for a HE College and we moved everything to digital delivery (teaching, feedback, student support, staff meetings etc.). Haven't managed less than a 13 hour day so far this week...

Good on ya !
A lot of people (like you) are working hard to try and deliver as close to normal service as possible

Re: The things you're doing during lockdown
Working from home (as is Mrs Mango) on the three days per week I work. During the rest of the time I've been building some shuttering in the back yard for foundations for the wall I'm planning to build. Only problem is, I don't have much cement and all the DIY sheds are now closed. Also slowly rebuilding the pillar drill I'm refurbishing. And for light relief I'm re-reading Stephen King's 'The Stand' - a novel about the aftermath of a virulent plague with a 99.4% mortality rate. Cheery stuff...

You can still do online orders or click and collect from B&Q - probably others too.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 8:02 pmOnly problem is, I don't have much cement and all the DIY sheds are now closed.

Gardening, getting stressed, jigsaw (excellent stress buster!), thinking about all the other small jobs I could catch up with, getting stressed, reading.
(the stress is more to do with my daughters and families than me and Mike, we're old and a bit philosophical about it all. We take precautions and hope for the best),

In theory they are, but in practice I've found it not to be the case. I've tried to buy a bag of cement using Click and Collect and I get an unhelpful message saying one or more items could not be added to the basket - please try again...BikerGran wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 10:21 pmYou can still do online orders or click and collect from B&Q - probably others too.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 8:02 pmOnly problem is, I don't have much cement and all the DIY sheds are now closed.

I had a similar experience with our compost supplier, so I suggested to him that can I pay for it now and then turn up at your locked gates, someone can just drop it outside and then when they've gone in we can load it up. Hmm he said I don't see why not. So we are sortedmangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:42 pmIn theory they are, but in practice I've found it not to be the case. Yes, probably a lot easier to organise with a small firm or one-man band, but not with a monolith like B&Q...

Re: The things you're doing during lockdown
Working for most of the week, chilling out in the evenings, doing some decorating.
Mostly the usual, just all.in one building. Its a bit like travelling in the van but without the scenery.

Re: The things you're doing during lockdown
I'm running into brick walls as I try to sort both bikes out.
The falco tank has suffered ethanol damage and is now porous....
Maidstone Motoliner has shut down their workshop so I may have to pay way too much for a s/hand front wheel for the RC8, about 4 times the price of a repair, ouch.
Still, I have some time to kill, at least 10 more weeks of 'shielding '

Yes maybe, but if you have your branches phone number see what can be done.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 12:17 pmYes, probably a lot easier to organise with a small firm or one-man band, but not with a monolith like B&Q...

Well, my garage has never been so organised!
Re: The things you're doing during lockdown
That is one tidy garage!
I have been sourcing parts for the Falco, great success!
Today I repsprayed all the areas on the RC8 front wheel that got damaged in the straightening process, a major faff trying to buy some abrasive flap wheels from Toolstation, no longer able to walk in and buy what you need but that is a small price to pay if it helps keeping the Corona monster in check
