What car for £7,000

#1 Post by Ben » Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:01 am

Hello all, a friend of mine is looking to buy a car. He has a couple of young kids, lives in Bristol and it'll do mainly short journeys, the odd run into London. His budget is £7,000. What would you go for?

Look at whatever petrol engined Toyota or Honda fits the budget, that's it.

Agreed, modern diesels really don't like short journeys. Premature DPF failure awaits with that kind of usage. I'dd add Mazda to that list.

What Couchy said. Go Japanese. Even the Suzukis are realible. Maybe even an older Subaru if you can find a standard one. The estates are bloody brilliant.

Honda CR-V. I was going to get one of these and my research included nabbing drivers of them at petrol stations and shop car parks and asking them what they thought about it. Without exception, they said "Best car I've ever had! "

Only reason I didn't follow through was I went to the darkside and got a VW campervan.
