Still going then.

#1 Post by HisNibbs » Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:36 pm

Just thought I'd pop back and see if the Ridersite was still alive. I suspose I'm in touch with some stalwarts from this site on face book.

I still have the Falco but it is currently a project I haven't got around to yet.

Suspension failed on the Subaru, Gear box and rearset linkages on the cafe racer, Center stand bushes and new prop stand on the PD and finaly clutch done and half way through replacing the steering head bearings on the RS. The RS has been a bit of a bstd. becaus I used it for a few years as a winter hack to spare the Falco and the salt has realy attacked it. Most of the fairing screws needed drilling out etc. etc.

I thought having four bikes I'd do 1/4 the work on each but it doesn't seem to work that way. I've only taken most of the broken bits off the Falco due to prioritiesing the above.

Had a little test ride on the cafe racer last week end and it felt very nice. Was out on the PD today, taxed for the year and plan to be riding it to Manchester to see my eldest daughter and grandkids next weekend.

So bikes on the road and life begins again.

Ello again :smt006

I'm currently alternating between the Falco and Futura (Falco every day last week - Futura today).
They've all got things that need to be done to them .... and never a moment available to do it

If I ever get to the end of renovating my mum's house, sorting out ours after the last extension and getting the new garage/workshop built, there's a chance I'll get something done!

I'm about to finally say goodbye to Gertie. I've agonised about what to do and come to the decision that it's time she was someone else's problem so she's going to a bloke I've known for years via another forum. Whether he puts her back on the road or takes her apart to use for other projects doesn't really matter, it's better than just leaving her in my garage for years. I daresay I'll shed a tear on the day - I originally bought her in 2000, had her triked in 2004 after bashing my leg up, and we've done a lot of miles together and had lots of great experiences that a lot of the current riders will never know (present company excepted, I mean the Sunday riders!).

I shall still pop in here cos I'll always be a biker/motorcyclist in my head!

Wouldn't be the same without you BG - always welcome
As you know very well, the most important thing about RIDERsite is the riders (or ex riders).
Yes the bikes are the common interest but the people are the heart and soul of the place.
