That's it really. This used to be a really vibrant and active forum. I wonder why we are not talking so much.
I've got some jobs to do on my Falco over the winter so I may be asking some questions so please don't desert me.

Yes it is a bit qiuet...
I guess folks are resigning themselves to winter, days are now that much sorter, it's getting bloody cold.
Good job I have just insulated my shed !
Bad job that my boss has got it in for me, he is an arrogant tosser that needs to be surrounded by 'Yes, I will such your winkie' men.
As the Union rep I don't fall into that category
Takes up too much time tho

I'll probably have a few hundred thousand questions over winter too as I'm planning a fairly big project.
Still have to build the workshop on the other side of the house as the garage is too full of bikes to get anything done...

I certainly don't post as much as I used to, and I suspect Facebook is partially to blame for that (well, actually it's my fault for letting FB take up too much of my time).
This winter I've got a fair amount of Falco-related stuff planned, so will probably be more active asking questions etc. I really must get the CF tank fitted I bought years ago, the forks need an oil change and overhauling, and I guess it's about time I checked the valve clearances. Plus I've got a set of AP rearsets to fit.
Best get cracking then...

And I thought it took me a long time to fit the CF Tank... Which forks are you rebuilding, Showa or Marzocchi?

Facebook has a lot to answer for!
I don't ride any more, not even the trike - soul says yes, body says no. Ah well, I fitted a lot into the 20 years or so. And I'm still on the road but this time with a campervan. And pretty much only in summer.
So I don't really have much of interest to say on here, just like to keep in touch.

Showa forks. I've done them before but need to re-make my special tool for bleeding the cartridges (stops oil from spraying everywhere). And I need to clear my workbench of all the crap it's accumulated before I even think about starting,...

There was I, hoping for a nice write up on servicing the Marzocchis! The last forks I stripped down were from a 250LC over 20 years ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a crap accumulation problem ..
My failing is trying to do too many things at one, but running out of time and losing track of what's where and when etc.,
I convince myself that a job is really easy, and that it sill be easy to do it alongside another job. However, the 'alongside job' is also alongside another one .... you get the picture.
Mymtask list is:
1) . Flat, clearcoat, apply decals, clearcoat, reassemble the 350LC bodywork.
2) All the same tasks, but for the RG5
3) try to reassemble the YR5 motor I started because 1 and 2 were 'pending'
4) re-assemble the Falco's front end after the mishap a couple of months ago
5) fit the T5's replacement exhaust manifold as driving it now involves a lot of coughing and eye-watering...
,,,,, going now.

The Marzocchis, although being decent forks, are not very serviceable - other than changing oil and seals etc. Shim stacks etc are all in cartridges that don't come apart - at least that's what I recall from someone that took them apart a few years ago.

It might be quiet on the forum but it certainly isn't in real life. Far far too much going on so the forum doesn't get much of a look in at the moment.
Still, it gives the rest of you the opportunity to overtake my post-count .....

When I did my Showas last year they looked decidedly un-disassemble-able (?) as the little coney thing at the bottom of the damper rod looked to be staked closed...

I've never done either but I believe it is much more possible to work on the Showas than the Marzocchis.

Yes, you do need a small but targetted amount of violence to free them up. From memory I drilled a couple of small holes in the base and then used a pin wrench to disassemble them.
