From the 24/04/17 speeding offences will be categorized into bands, A,B and C.
A is a bit over, B is a bit quick and C is honing it. Fines for band C can start at 150% of your weekly income plus points or a ban, Magistrates can increase or decrease levels of fine and punishment according to mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

Speed Limit Recorded Speed
20 , 41plus 31-40 21-30
30, 51plus 41-50 31-40
40, 66plus 56-65 41-55
50, 76plus 66-75 51-65
60, 91plus 81-90 61-80
70 , 101plus 91-100 71-90

Bollocks, I typed this out so carefully but the final post is all bunched up, you should be able to make sense of this
Band C B A
Possible ban length or points, Band C 7 to 56 days or 6 points, Band B 7 to 28 days, Band C points. All of these lovely prizes come with whichever pricetag your humourless Magistrate chooses to attatch.....

I think it's going to be a bit of a minefield to be honest, as the Beak will have an arbitrary discretion over what percentage of the fine to apply, but it really does seem like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut for the lower speed transgressions, and in many cases not really in scale to the offence when compared - for example - to causing death by dangerous driving...

Fcuk 'em, ban me and the state can pay for me to sit at home on my arse.
Meanwhile we can watch on TV & listen to the radio to all the terrorists issues, slave traders etc.etc that is not being sorted.
Glad we have the priorities right in this wonderful country.

I'm not sure that too many Magistrates would be able to work that one out.

Does anyone know how they establish your weekly income. Tax return? Personal declaration? Guess?

when you go to court they ask you to fill in a means form which is a declaration for your earnings and your fine is based on what you tell them..

if your self employed like me they just double it anyway cos they know your probably only declaring half your earnings.. hypothetically speaking of course..

cough wink!!!

I only know this cos I recently found myself at a magistrates court for the offence of dong 62 in a30..
naughty I know but it was one of those dual carriage ways which the fuzz use to catch us out
